Across Australia, momentum is growing to engage men and boys as part of the solution to gender inequality. Equimundo’s work in Australia builds on decades of leadership from local partners, combining research, collaboration, and innovation to better understand—and transform—the norms that shape men’s lives, relationships, and wellbeing.
This collection of resources brings together key insights from our Australia portfolio, offering a deeper look at fatherhood, masculinity, and the systems that influence how care, power, and opportunity are shared. Together, these resources are designed to inform policy, strengthen programming, and support a more connected and equitable future.
Equimundo in Australia: Strategy and Approach
This brief outlines Equimundo’s broader vision and strategy in Australia, grounded in collaboration with a wide network of local partners. It highlights how our work connects research, advocacy, and programming to address the root causes of gender inequality—particularly harmful norms around masculinity.
The brief also introduces key initiatives underway, including national research on men, boys, and fatherhood; ecosystem mapping to identify collaboration opportunities; and global efforts like the MenCare Changemaker Journey. Together, these efforts position Australia as a critical hub within a growing global movement to promote care, wellbeing, and gender equality.
Ecosystem Mapping: Engaging Men and Boys in Gender Equality
This resource provides a rapid landscape analysis of the organisations, institutions, and initiatives working across Australia to engage men and boys in gender equality. Conducted as a collaboration between Dalberg Advisors and Equimundo, this mapping highlights the depth and diversity of work already underway, spanning violence prevention, education, men’s health, caregiving, and digital culture.
Beyond mapping who is doing what, the analysis identifies key gaps, areas of momentum, and opportunities for stronger collaboration across sectors. It serves as a foundation for building a more connected and coordinated field—one that can accelerate impact and scale what works.
State of the World’s Fathers 2026: Australia Summary Report
In collaboration with the Fathering Project, this report provides a comprehensive snapshot of fatherhood and caregiving in Australia today. Drawing on survey data and in-depth interviews with parents across the country, it highlights a powerful shift: many Australian fathers want to be engaged, emotionally present caregivers.
At the same time, the findings reveal persistent structural barriers—including workplace demands, financial pressures, and entrenched gender norms—that continue to limit fathers’ ability to fully participate in care.
The report offers critical insights into how caregiving is divided within households, the impact of these dynamics on wellbeing, and the policy and cultural changes needed to better support families.
This page highlights our growing portfolio across Australia, developed in collaboration with local partners.
