June 2026, Washington D.C – Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice partnered with the Congressional Dads Caucus to convene Father’s Day Week of Action 2026, a series of events focused on fatherhood, caregiving, family policy, paid family leave, affordable child care, and economic security for working families.

The week brought together advocates, researchers, policymakers, labor leaders, content creators, health professionals, and families committed to advancing policies and cultural change that support fathers, caregivers, children, and communities.

Celebrating leaders advancing fatherhood and caregiving

Father’s Day Week of Action began with the annual Dad Ambassador Awards, presented in partnership with the Congressional Dads Caucus.

The awards recognized individuals and organizations whose work is helping strengthen families, support caregivers, expand opportunities for children, and advance a more caring vision of fatherhood.

This year’s honorees included:

Aron Accurso, creator, composer, and conductor, Songs for Littles

Luchina Fisher and Stephen Chukumba, filmmakers behind The Dads documentary

Sidney Raskind, content creator

Dr. Ilan Shapiro, chief health correspondent and medical affairs officer, AltaMed Health Services

Bradley Whitford, actor and producer

Tim Daly, actor, producer, and director

Darlin Adonay Peña, immigrant advocate, Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights

International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, accepted by Paul A. Noble, international secretary-treasurer

Throughout the evening, honorees shared reflections on fatherhood, caregiving, family unity, belonging, and the responsibility adults share in creating a better future for children.

Representative Joaquin Castro delivered opening remarks and spoke about the importance of supporting children and families through public policy and community action.

The following day, Equimundo and the Congressional Dads Caucus hosted a Congressional Briefing featuring findings from Equimundo’s State of America’s Fathers 2026 report.

The discussion examined the realities facing fathers and caregivers across the United States and explored how policies such as paid parental leave, affordable child care, child tax credits, and workplace flexibility can strengthen family well-being.

Research presented during the briefing found:

  • 80 percent of parents have made work- or finance-related changes to meet caregiving needs.
  • 90 percent of fathers support paid time away from work for care.
  • Two-thirds of fathers would vote for child tax credits and subsidized child and elder care.

The findings highlight the growing pressures facing working families and the broad support among parents for policies that help families care for children and loved ones.

Fatherhood, caregiving, and the future of family policy

Across both events, participants emphasized that caregiving is essential social and economic infrastructure.

Discussions focused on the role fathers play in children’s lives, the challenges families face balancing work and care, and the need for policies that support parents across every stage of family life.

The week also highlighted Equimundo’s Vote Like a Dad campaign, which encourages fathers, caregivers, and family supporters to learn where candidates stand on issues affecting families, including paid leave, child care, child tax credits, and family economic security.

As Father’s Day approaches and conversations about family policy continue across the country, Father’s Day Week of Action serves as a reminder that supporting fathers and caregivers strengthens families, workplaces, and communities alike.
