

Beyond Gender Stereotypes, is a new curriculum for children of all genders aged 7–11 in England, which aims to promote gender equality and challenge limiting gender stereotypes. The project is led by Lifting Limits, a UK-based charity, as part of the Global Boyhood Initiative, which is coordinated by Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice, a US-based non-profit organisation.
This course is for KS2 teachers and teaching assistants.
Course Objectives:
- Understand how children learn social expectations based on gender and recognise how gender intersects with other key identities.
- Recognize gender stereotypes in wider society and how they limit access to opportunities, undermine diverse experiences, and impact mental health and wellbeing.
- Recognize gender stereotypes in school contexts, understand their impact, and reflect on the role of the teacher in reinforcing or challenging gender stereotypes.
- Understand how to engage with parents and carers to discuss gender stereotypes with their children.
- Prepare to teach the accompanying lesson plans and supporting materials on gender stereotypes for Key Stage 2 pupils.
