This month marks the inaugural MenCare Changemaker Summit in Rio de Janeiro, where these changemakers will come together for the first time for four days of solutions-focused workshops and collaboration created in partnership with global gender equality charity <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thewowfoundation.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WOW &#8211; Women of the World<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/meet-the-changemakers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MenCare Changemakers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are working together to advance health and wellbeing for men and boys alongside women and girls, and to address some of the most urgent and complex challenges facing men, boys and masculinities today \u2013 from online harms and democratic backsliding to gaps in health, education, and care.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selected for their leadership and impact, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/meet-the-changemakers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changemakers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are at the heart of a two-year global journey to drive solutions, shift norms and accelerate progress toward gender equality and caring, connected masculinities. The Changemakers are organized across <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/the-action-tracks-and-their-co-conveners\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seven action tracks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, each focused on a critical area for change:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caring online spaces<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 in partnership with Safe Online<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caring manhood in cities and regions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 in partnership with Van Leer Foundation<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Democracy, violent extremism, and tech-enabled harms<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 in partnership with The Christchurch Call<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Men\u2019s health and health for all <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2013 in partnership with Global Action on Men\u2019s Health<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caring manhood in workplaces<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 in partnership with Champions of Change Coalition<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Men and care policies<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 in partnership with Alianza Global por los Cuidados (Global Alliance for Care)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Boys and education<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 in partnership with American Institute for Boys and Men<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Across these tracks, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/meet-the-changemakers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changemakers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will collaborate to develop and scale solutions that promote caregiving, prevent violence, strengthen communities and build more inclusive societies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This includes leaders such as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/changemaker\/cynthia-miller-idriss\/\"><b>Cynthia Miller-Idriss<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a leading expert on extremism and radicalization working to prevent online recruitment into violent movements, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/changemaker\/luciano-ramos\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luciano Ramos<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Executive Director, Instituto Mapear and one of the most active voices in Brazil on issues related to masculinities and fatherhood, working to promote gender equity and prevent violence, <\/span><b>\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/action-track\/caring-manhood-in-workplaces\/\"><b>Felipe Ramos<\/b><\/a><b>, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">co-founder and COO of PapodeHomem and Instituto PDH who leads programs that engage men as allies in building more equitable, inclusive, and emotionally healthy environments, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/changemaker\/emma-walsh\/\"><b>Emma Walsh<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, founder of Parents At Work, who is advancing workplace policies that better support caregivers and families. Together, they reflect the breadth of expertise and action driving this global effort.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTrue democracy asks more than casting a ballot; it demands that each of us \u2013 especially as men \u2013 step into the roles of caregivers, connectors and collaborators, so our communities don\u2019t just survive but flourish,\u201d said <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/changemaker\/gary-barker\/\"><b>Gary Barker<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Founder and CEO of Equimundo.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From policymakers and researchers to activists, corporate leaders and cultural influencers, the Changemakers bring diverse expertise and lived experience, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing gender equality through practical, collective action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presented <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/wow-presents-the-power-of-story\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in partnership<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with WOW \u2013 Women of the World, the Changemaker journey also highlights the power of culture, storytelling and the arts in shifting norms and engaging wider audiences.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There will be an 8th strand of activity called, \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/changemakers.equimundo.org\/wow-presents-the-power-of-story\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Power of Story<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d presented by WOW, which will bring together leading artists from the UK and Brazil including Adjani Salmon, Jordan Stephens, Kay Rufai, Juca Fiis and Patu Ara\u00fajo to develop the role of arts, storytelling and festival as essential tools for social change. They will create a toolkit for creating events and festivals focused on men and boys.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTime and again I have seen first hand how the arts can transform possibilities for people, places and ideas\u2026 [they] can really begin to shift embedded behaviour and foster understanding,\u201d said Colette Bailey, CEO of WOW \u2013 Women of the World.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The MenCare Changemakers will convene in Rio de Janeiro from 27\u201330 May 2026 for the inaugural MenCare Changemaker Summit, a four-day global gathering to exchange ideas, build partnerships and accelerate action in partnership with Brazilian partners Instituto Mapear, Instituto PapodeHomem. On 29 May, the summit will open up to the public with the Boys &amp; Men Festival, a one day free event across two major cultural venues in Rio.
