March 7, 2026, Bogotá, Colombia – Equimundo has been awarded the “Sello de Igualdad” (Certificate of Equality) by the City of Bogotá in recognition of its collaboration and commitment to promoting gender equality and the redistribution of care work.

The recognition was presented by the Mayor of Bogotá during a public event organized by the Secretaría Distrital de la Mujer (SDMujer) as part of the city’s International Women’s Day (8M) celebrations. The ceremony brought together universities, businesses and civil society organizations working to advance gender equality across the city.

Equimundo received special recognition alongside partners Plural e o Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for supporting the Secretariat of Women in developing and piloting innovative methodologies aimed at challenging gender stereotypes and promoting shared responsibility for care among children and young people.

The collaboration is part of Bogotá’s broader city wide care system, which seeks to transform cultural norms surrounding unpaid care work and strengthen gender equality in everyday life. Through participatory, playful and reflective experiences, the initiative encourages young people to rethink how care is valued and shared in families, schools and communities.

The project, developed jointly by Plural, IDB, Equimundo and SDMujer, focuses on shifting cultural and behavioral norms around unpaid care work (trabajos de cuidado no remunerados) and building greater awareness of the importance of care in society.
Under the umbrella concept “Re-bonito cuidar bonito,” the initiative includes three participatory learning experiences tailored to different age groups in Bogotá.

Caleidoscopio Espacios Físicos is a mobile play-based installation designed for children aged 9 to 13 that encourages exploration and reflection on care and gender stereotypes through interactive games.

Ruta Caleidoscopio is a three session educational journey for adolescents aged 14 to 17 that invites participants to explore different “continents of care,” understand the importance of care in daily life and identify ways to share responsibilities more fairly.

Laboratorio de Soluciones Móvil is a challenge based learning experience for young adults aged 18 to 25 in technical and technological education institutions, designed to explore real life scenarios around organizing, negotiating and sharing care responsibilities.

Beginning in May 2026, the methodologies developed through this partnership will be implemented by the Secretaría Distrital de la Mujer, reaching at least 3,000 young people across Bogotá.

The recognition ceremony also featured a fair highlighting women entrepreneurs and a showcase of SDMujer initiatives across the city to promote reflection on care work and the importance of its redistribution.

By supporting the development of these innovative tools, Equimundo continues to advance its mission of transforming harmful gender norms and promoting more caring, equitable societies.
