Equimundo and Beyond Equality launch a new film, presented by the WHO Foundation and produced for them by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, exploring how connection and self-expression can support men’s mental health.

London, U.K. – Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice and Beyond Equality have launched a new film exploring men’s mental health and the importance of connection and self-expression. The film, Growing our resilience: How to make space for men’s mental health, is part of the Healthier Together series, presented by the WHO Foundation and produced for them by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions, which highlights partnerships working to strengthen health and well-being around the world.

The short film tells the story of George, a young man who finds confidence and self-expression through ballet, and his father Stuart, a lifelong football fan whose journey alongside his son becomes one of growth, openness, and deep support. Through their relationship, the film explores how families and communities can create space for boys and men to express themselves and speak openly about how they are feeling.

Research from Equimundo’s State of UK Men 2025 report found that 91 percent of men surveyed said being a friend is a key quality of what it means to be a man. The finding highlights the importance many men place on connection and relationships, even as stigma and social expectations can make it difficult to talk about mental health.
